CFP: Life after Death Seminar

Death, even being perhaps the most objective part of existence, is a topic most people attempt to avoid. Indeed, beyond the taboo in merely talking about death, many attempt to outright deny death, and extend life as much as, and in any way that, one can think possible. This can be seen, for example, in the common notions of rebirth and the afterlife that appear in numerous religions and other spiritual beliefs. Notions of life versus death appears, too, as rhetoric and metaphor constantly in people’s daily lives. All the while, coming to terms with death, rather than leaving it in its current place of taboo, would be an achievement for human epistemology, if for no other reason than that it actualizes this reality that is equally unambiguous for all. At the very least, addressing directly how death relates to the human situation, and in what ways we extend life into, and well beyond, death, through thought and creation, can lead us to better understand death’s significance, and whether avoiding death in truth is as intuitive as accepting it could be.
